On April 16, 2025 in Mumbai, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated FSSAI’s National Stakeholder Consultation on “Sustainable Packaging for Food Business.” Emphasizing the urgent need to adopt eco-friendly, recyclable, and biodegradable packaging, he highlighted India’s potential to lead global sustainability efforts. The event gathered over 1500 stakeholders from various sectors to discuss emerging trends, regulatory frameworks, and innovations in sustainable food packaging. FSSAI also unveiled guidelines for rPET use and a new logo for easy consumer identification.
FSSAI, in collaboration with BMC, conducted a food safety training session for over 4000 street vendors, SHGs, and mid-day meal providers in multiple training sessions. Held under the 'Eat Right India' campaign, the session focused on hygiene, safe food handling, and storage practices. Part of an MoU to train 10,000 vendors citywide, the initiative was well-received, with more sessions planned to strengthen food safety across Mumbai.
FSSAI West Region inaugurated “Mauli – the First-Ever All-Women Clean Street Food Hub” in Kandivali on 17 August 2025 under the Eat Right India movement. The hub is operated entirely by women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) who had undergone professional training under the FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) program. The launch of Mauli, graced by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, marked a proud moment in Mumbai’s food landscape, showcasing the power of women-led change in building a healthier and safer community.
BCC&I is organized a National Conference titled “NextGen Packaging Conclave” on 1st August at Mumbai. The conference witnessed participation of relevant stakeholders, targeted customers, technology providers and consultants. Ms. Pritee Chaudhary, IRS, Regional Director, FSSAI WR was the Guest of Honour at the Inaugural Session of NextGen Packaging Conclave.
