FSSAI with support of state government bodies has framed benchmarks for upgrading the existing infrastructures of food streets across the country.

This initiative aims to improve the hygiene and sanitation standards of street food hubs or clusters of vendors/shops/stalls selling popular street foods largely comprising the local and regional cuisines. The street food vendors are certified based on pre-defined benchmarks as per Schedule 4 requirements of FSS Act, 2006. It also aims to upgrade food streets and build trust among consumers about enjoying safe and hygienic local eating experiences.
